Bargaining Info

July 13, 2007

We’re at the table with CRA and we want more dates

It may have been Canada Day, but the PSAC was busy serving notice to bargain on the Canada Revenue Agency on July 1, the earliest possible date it could be served under the new Public Service Labour Relations Act.

Bargaining demands were exchanged electronically with the employer on July 3.  Both sets of demands can be found on these web sites:  www.psac-apfc.com and www.ute-sei.org

Your union’s demands are designed to improve salaries and working conditions for all members, including part-time and term workers.  CRA, on the other hand, has a number of demands that would reduce or eliminate hard won benefits, particularly for those members who are not indeterminate or full-time.

Your bargaining team is committed to saying NO to any demand calling for a roll-back in current terms and conditions of employment.

We meet the CRA team for the first time

Your negotiating team caucused on the morning of July 10 and had its first meeting with the employer that afternoon.  July 11th and 12th were spent reviewing each party’s demands, providing explanations and answering questions.

The teams agree to more bargaining dates

The PSAC and CRA have agreed to set aside the following dates for negotiations: September 24-28 and October 22-26.  BUT, it is not acceptable to the negotiating team, the union, or the membership that the employer is unwilling to meet for a sustained period to get a collective agreement before October 31.  We still hope to secure further dates in both September and October and your union is working hard to negotiate a new agreement in as short a time as possible.

Show your support

Show your support for your negotiating team and your bargaining demands when activities are scheduled by your Local in the coming weeks.
