It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Union of Taxation Employees (UTE). The effective date of the transfer to UTE for most of you is March 31, 2006. Those attending the PSAC Convention will be transferred June 1st.

You should soon be receiving a “New Members Kit” from your new local representatives. I also encourage you to visit our website, www.ute-sei.org and speak with our local executives in order for you to acquaint yourself with your new Component and local. The names and telephone numbers of the local executives can be found posted on the Bulletin Boards and on our website under “Structure”. You will find that our local executives are easy to talk to, friendly and knowledgeable about the ways of the Union.

If any of you are interested in volunteering for committees, executive or steward positions you should let the local executive know right away. Local By-laws will dictate how these positions may be filled. In some cases this may not occur until the next Annual General Meeting.

I hope to meet you all in my travels to the various locals from time to time, so keep your dates open to attend any local meetings. This is your union and you should have a say in how it is run. Until we meet…
