NORTHERN & EASTERN ONTARIO REGIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT
SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
JUNE 2007 – SEPTEMBER 2007
Late June 2007 and after completing my last supplemental report, I had the opportunity to attend the Sudbury Local 00042 to provide them with some training for executive and steward members as well I attended the quarterly membership meeting that they had.
During this quarter, I have participated in numerous teleconferences with the region ranging from general discussion issues to the term/perm issue that has been addressed in our region. The Ontario region has finally made a decision and has made at least 60 terms to perms during this quarter. Specifically for my region the Belleville Local 00012 non-tax term employees went from having 34 terms to now only 15 remaining and currently selection processes are underway in getting more converted to perm status. My Southwestern Ontario RVP counterpart, Brother Stein also has provided some information on his supplemental report.
I also had the opportunity of attending a Day of Discussion in the region on the topic of Official Languages, as well we were briefed this quarter on the CTAO progress. During this quarter and on a teleconference, we were advised that the HR agreement had been finalized and signed off, therefore everything is now in place to offer Ontario Ministry of Finance employees jobs in the CRA of which when arriving will be PIPSC members and not ours. Further information on CTAO can be located on the CRA Ontario Region website.
Also this quarter, I had the opportunity to sit in with the new Thunder Bay TSO Director and Assistant Commissioner in Thunder Bay to discuss items of concern.
In my last supplemental report I had indicated that my region had attended the Regional H&S Conference in Moncton and since then my region has participated in the National H&S Conference held August 23-26 in Ottawa.
I am currently working on executive/steward training and have the opportunity of sending some members to Halifax in October for the Staffing Course that Brother Gaetz is offering to his region.
Respectfully submitted,
Cosimo Crupi
Regional Vice-President
