President’s Follow Up Items
Executive Council
June 2005
Betty Bannon - Item 5
We now have a total of 7 locals that have had their scabs and/or
some of the Rands disciplined. Council is to discuss whether or not to
put the names of the scabs on the website.
The signing of Rands was a discussion item at the last NBOD.
Locals should advise me of any specifics that I can send to the PSAC
membership section. They should include the name, address, local,
when they signed a card and/or any other information that would prove
helpful in tracking the member’s signed card.
Pierre Mulvihill attended a briefing on OATS and I sent out
the details to the Council and Locals.
On the issue of grievance letters being sent with wrong addresses,
right now if a letter is returned the support staff check the address
with the membership system and if there is no address or the same address
the returned letter is sent to the local to provide a new address and
to hand deliver the grievance letter. Very few of the locals bother
to answer or they may send the new address to Sylvie Bastien, the membership
clerk and she is unaware that this is a grievance file unless the local
advises her. Thus, the grievance file may not be updated.
8 of the 10 RVPs reported on the number of affected members
in their region regarding the Cash and Client Service Counters. All
information was forwarded to the chair of the WFA Committee.
A list of all noted Adjudications was sent to the PSAC for
confirmation and status check. Once it has been completed it will be
provided to the Council.
I have requested once again at the latest NBOD that the PSAC
reopen their file on LWOP limits for Union Business and the impact
on an individuals Pension.
The members in the unallocated list are those who cannot readily
be identified as being UTE or CEUDA. Once identified they are allocated.
A list of the CRA Call Sites was sent to Council on April 5th.
The list outlined the type and location of each site.
We are looking at putting a place on the UTE Website to include
an area where all sent e-mail can be placed for secure access by the
locals and/or Council. After Convention we will complete this initiative.
The web developer of the PSAC website has been advised of the
problem with not receiving any kind of confirmation of being successful
in the submission of an address change on-line. I tried it myself and
after I clicked submit, it took my back to the address change page
with the fill in boxes blank. The PSAC will look into this problem.
In Solidarity,
Betty Bannon
