PRESIDENT’S FOLLOW UP ITEMS
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
DECEMBER 2005

Betty Bannon - Item 5

  • A two day ITPR training session is being set up for very early in the New Year.  This delay was caused by the unavailability of one of the participants.
  • I wrote Nycole Turmel regarding UTE retaining the members at the Winnipeg Compensation Centre after they move from the TC.  Nycole agreed that they would stay with UTE until she has made the broader decision on the affiliation of all PSAC CRA members.
  • After reviewing the funding for the Non UTE Events I advised Council that I would not be authorizing any further expenditure from this line item until all outstanding expense claims had been finalized.  The line item was below $1000 and the estimates given at the time of request are not always accurate to the dollar.
  • An updated list of Non UTE Events was distributed via e-mail.
  • The new committee assignments have been put on the website.
  • I advised Council about the ITPRs currently in our inventory after the September Council meeting.  While researching this it came to light that there had been errors in counting, which has now been corrected.  The numbers reported at this meeting should reflect a true account of our inventory.
  • The Executive Committee dealt with the issue of assisting locals in the recovering of the fines of scabs.  The outcome is included in the report of the Executive Committee.
  • The issue of “Pilot Projects” has been included on the agenda of the National Union Management Consultation (NUMC) meeting.
  • The financial reports of each Council member are no longer on the web.  However, they are still sent to the locals with the minutes.
  • An Emergency Information Sheet has been developed and will be distributed to Council at this meeting.
  • I wrote to the CRA regarding the taxable benefits that the Telus scabs received from their employer and requested that an audit be conducted.
  • The PSAC stated that the scab letters should all contain an amount for the fine and that the fine is calculated on their gross pay.  Any letter that went out without this information was done in error.
