The Committee has not met since my last report.
A meeting of the National Joint WFA Committee is scheduled in Ottawa on March 9/07, the Committee will meet after that meeting and I will update Council when this report is discussed.
The UTE National President and the Committee Chair will be meeting with the Commissioner and A/C of Human Resources on March 26/07. At this meeting we will be discussing the delegation of authority for surplus letters. It is hoped the employer will agree to delegate this to the director level. This should expedite the issuance of Reasonable Job Offers (RJOs).
The National President and the Committee Chair continue to get updated on WFA situations and the applicable RVPs are notified as soon as possible. At this point there are still well over 1000 UTE members in affected status.
The Committee would like to welcome Brother MacDonald to the committee. Also at this time I would like to recognize the work Brothers Gaetz and Mulvihill did during their time on the committee. The work of these two Brothers is unparelled and the knowledge they have on this matter will always be of benefit to the membership and the Union and for this they have our sincere THANKS.
