Workforce Adjustment Committee

The Committee met in Ottawa on January 12-14/06. The minutes of this meeting have been sent out in a bulletin.
The Committee Chair and the Staff Advisor along with PIPSC reps met with HQ on March 6/06 on Work Force Adjustment Approach and reviewed a deck. Since this deck is in draft format at this time it can not be shared. The Unions submitted request for changes to this deck and we are awaiting a reply from the employer.
The Committee Chair and the Staff Advisor are scheduled to meet with HQ on the 6% equivalent issue on March 23/06.
At the committee meeting in January it was agreed to submit an article for the next UTE newsletter. This article is an open letter to all affected employees and it deals with the issue of Reasonable Job Offer (RJO) versus Permanent Lateral Move (PLM).
The Committee reviewed all lists from the employer and some regions of all affected employees. On initial review there were over 1,100 names on this list, which the Committee feels is over stated. Committee members have sent this list as well as the latest employer list to all RVPs requesting that the names be verified. RVPs and locals cooperation is vital in order to verify the names and status of our affected members.
The Committee hopes to do a brief presentation at the Presidents Conference on the lists, RJOs vs PLMs and the employer deck on Work Force Adjustment Approach.
