REPORT OF THE WORKFORCE ADJUSTMENT COMMITTEE
MARCH 2003

Nick Stein Item 11(h)

The committee has not met since my last report.

On December 6, 2002 the UTE National President and the committee chair met with HQ officials regarding the “Warehouse Initiative” and discussed the consultants’ report. The chair also met later that day with HQ about current WFA situations.

The committee staff advisor and the chair met with the PSAC on February 6, 2003 to discuss possible actions as a result of the employer’s continued abuse of the collective agreement.

The chair has also had numerous conversations with council members and locals about WFA situations. These talks have assisted the chair in becoming aware of matters that are in the field but not being reported through the proper channels.

Currently the committee is aware of the following WFA situations:

• Client Service Delivery
• Warehouse Initiative (part of Administrative Reform & Renewal ARR)
• Financial service officers (part of ARR)
• Compensation delivery
• Non-resident/International Tax

The above situations are in various stages of implementation and the continued monitoring is essential to protect our members’ rights.

The chair requests that all locals and regions continue to communicate with the committee, as it is impossible to track these matters when the employer refuses to advise the Union as required.
