REPORT OF THE STAFFING COMMITTEE
JUNE 2006

Linda Cassidy  Item 11(a)

The committee met April 9-13th during which time we established procedures for the review of the ACS Job Descriptions, reviewed the descriptions and discussed the outstanding items.  It was agreed that Sister Gardiner and Brother Lachapelle would be responsible for the review of the job descriptions and they would send their comments to me, as Chair, and I would forward them on to the employer. Sister Abbott, Brother O’Brien and I will attempt to review the descriptions as time permits and will add our comments as well.

The minutes of the meeting were distributed to Council and the locals.

I met with the Employer, along with Brother O’Brien, on May 10th and 11th with respect to CBHRMAC and Revenue Collections.  Summaries of both of these meetings, as well as any applicable decks, have already been circulated to Council.  The information concerning the Revenue Collections strategy, as well as the applicable deck, should be shared with your respective locals.  I was advised that during the Assistant Director Meeting in May, Guy Proulx had requested that the Assistant Directors go back and discuss the strategies with their respective local union representatives.

On May 24th, Brother O’Brien, Sister Bannon and I met with the Employer on the “Term Commitment”.  A summary of the meeting has been provided to the National Office and I am awaiting translation. This will be circulated to Council as soon as it is available.  I am very concerned that the Locals have continued to indicate that this is a priority and that there are some major discrepancies on the list, but I have only heard from 31 of the locals. Thank you to Brothers Aylward, Bertrand and MacDonald who had their whole regions reply (as well as the Atlantic).

Brother Stein and Brother Dee have also had the majority of their locals reply.  I am requesting that the remaining members of Council please get all your locals to get this critical information to me as soon as possible as the employer can only correct the list if we make them aware of the discrepancies.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Cassidy,

Chairperson of the Committee
