Sabri Khayat
Regional Vice-President
Montréal
Sabri was elected Regional Vice-President for the Montréal region
in 1999 and was re-elected to this position in 2002 and 2005. He is responsible
for the Montréal local, the Sherbrooke local, the Rouyn-Noranda local,
the Laval local, the Montérégie local and the Outaouais local.
Union Involvement
Since 1991, Sabri has been actively involved with the union in various
capacities. He has held various positions within
the Montréal
local, such as Local Steward from 1991 to 1995; Local Director from 1995 to
1997; Local Vice-President for the Montreal Local from 1997 to 1998 and President
of this same local from 1998 to July 1999 when he was first elected
as Regional Vice-President, Montréal
Region. During the UTE's triennial convention in July 2002, he was elected
to a 2nd term as Regional Vice-President for the Montréal
Region. During the 2005 triennial convention, Sabri was elected by acclamation
for a third term as Regional Vice-President for the Montréal Region.
Committees
From 1999 to 2002, Sabri was a member of the Honours
and Awards Committee and the Employee Assistance
Program Committee.
From 2002 to 2005 , Sabri was the President of the Technological
Change Committee and was a member of the By-Laws
Committee and the Communications Committee.
From July 2005 to February 2007 Sabri was the President of the Technological
Change Committee.
Since July
2005, Sabri remains a member of the By-Laws Committee and the Communications
Committee.
Since February 2007, Sabri is the President of the Staffing
Committee.
Since 1996, he also holds the position of regional UTE representative for
the Quebec region, on the Regional Diversity Committee.
He is presently employed at
the Montréal
Tax Services Office.
