Doug Gaetz
Regional Vice-President
Atlantic
Doug was elected as Alternate Regional Vice President for the Atlantic
Region in 1999 and was re-elected to the same position at the 2002 and
the 2005 Triennial Conventions. When Linda Cassidy left the CRA, Doug as
alternate became the RVP in January 2007. He is responsible for the St.John’s
Local, the St John’s Tax Center Local, the Charlottetown Local, the
Saint John Local, the Bathurst Local, the Moncton Local, the Sydney Local,
the Halifax Local, the Summerside Tax Center.
Union Involvement
Since 1987, Doug has been actively involved with the Union in various
capacities.
He was elected Shop Steward of the Halifax Local in 1987 and then elected as
Vice President in 1990 and subsequently elected President in 1991 of that same
local. A position he held until January 2007. Doug has represented U.T.E. at
a number of PSAC
Conventions and Atlantic Regional Conventions.
Committees
Doug currently is a member of the Health and Safety Committee, the Finance
Committee and the National Employee Assistance Committee (EAP).
He was the Presidents’ representative on the National
Employee Assistance Committee (EAP) for 7 years and spent 3 years as Presidents’ representative
for the National Workforce Adjustment Committee.
Doug is currently employed at the Nova Scotia Tax Service Office (Halifax
site).
