 Chris Aylward
Regional Vice-President
National Capital
Chris was elected to the position of Alternate Regional Vice-President of
the National Capital Region in July 1996 and was appointed as the Regional
Vice-President for that same region in June 1997. He was re-elected as RVP
in 1999, 2002 and again in July 2005. As such, he is responsible
for the largest region in the country, representing over 4000 members who
work at Headquarters, the Ottawa Tax Services Office, the Ottawa Technology
Centre and the Ottawa International Tax Services Office.
Union Involvement
Chris' involvement in U.T.E. began in 1982 at the St. John's Taxation Centre.
He was transferred to Head Office in 1991, at which time he became involved
at the Head Office local. Chris has held many positions at the local level
from area rep. to group director to strike communications coordinator. Chris
has represented UTE at conventions such as the Canadian Labour Congress,
Ontario Federation of Labour and the PSAC conventions.
Committees
Chris is currently Chairperson of the National Health and Safety Committee
and By-Laws Committee. He also sat at the Technological Change Committee,
Workforce Adjustment Committee and Communications Committee. Chris also represents
UTE on the CRA National Health and Safety Policy Committee.
Chris was a member of the PSAC - CRA Negotiating Team in 1999 and 2004.
